Computer Forensics

Computer Investigation and Analysis.

Computer Forensics is the application of computer investigation and analysis techniques to gather evidence for presentation in a court of law. The goal of computer forensics is to perform an investigation while maintaining a documented chain of actions, to find out exactly what information the computer may contain and who was responsible for it.

Our Computer Forensic experts follow procedures that comply with the Scientific Work Group on Digital Evidence; the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section, United States Department of Justice; and the principles recommended by the G-8.

Our experts use a variety of techniques and proprietary forensic applications to examine the digital media information pretainent to the case. Any information found on the computer is carefully documented and reported.

There are many reasons to employ the techniques of computer forensics, below are listed a few:

  • Review and reexamination of evidence processed by law enforcement authorities.
  • To recover data in the event of a hardware or software failure.
  • To analyze a computer system after a break-in, for example, to determine how the attacker gained access and what the attacker did.
  • To gather evidence against an employee that an organization wishes to terminate.
